Celebrating 1000 Tree-Planting Reports Submitted!

This week, we received the 1000th tree-planting report! Yes, one thousand! This is a tremendous milestone for our organization and our global community.

Report #1000 came from Mark Allaway in Australia, which is of course no surprise, seeing that Mark Allaway was our most active tree-planting reporter for 2025.

A very big THANK YOU, and CONGRATULATIONS to Mark and the team in Australia, for submitting report #1000!

We really dig your hard work! Please keep digging, please keep planting!

Report #1000 – What does this mean?

We would like to explain this remarkable milestone to our global community, so that you can understand what it means, and join us in rejoicing in this goal reached. A “tree planting report” means that someone in our global community has reported the planting of one or more trees, through this Report form on our website. Thus, whenever someone makes a planting, they inform us by filling out the report. Accordingly, our global tree-planting map gets updated (in real-time), and the planting, story, and photos are displayed on the map.

If you have not seen the global tree-planting map, please have a look at it right now, so you can see the beautiful impact our global community has made!

Back in 2019, when the Global Tree Initiative started, we did not yet have this wonderful map, nor a website. At first, trees were reported in a WhatsApp group. Our (at that time) small but sincere community was very inspired by our founder, Tenzin Ösel Hita, and they started planting many, many trees around the world!

Our current Global Coordinator Director and Regional Coordinator for Aruba, Hans Timpner, got the job as “tree innumerator,” and he started to record the tree-planting data coming in from here, there, and everywhere!

As the “tree-fever” grew, the small team back then realized that they needed to structure the tree-planting reports and also find a way to promote these global efforts. A small group of dedicated people, including Hans, Hermann Wittekopf, Jacie Keeley, and a few more, started working together to create the colorful map and reporting system that we now have.

Some of our first tree-planting reports were from Guy Balso in France, Ingela Lacle from Aruba, Biggie Musemwa from Zimbabwe, Madhalsa Mandu from Spain, and Laurie Lesley from the USA.

Now, almost 7 years later, our global community has planted and dedicated 4,505,742 trees in 70 countries, and they have made a total of 1,000 reports, yay!!

In light of this celebration, we want to thank our global community for your ongoing support, loyalty, and dedication. Thank you so much for helping us to get here, and thank you for not stopping to #PlantGrowSave!

We appreciate you, and we look forward to celebrating the next 1000 reports, together! Please remember to report all plantings that you do.

If you are feeling generous and want to support us, you can make a donation, which will help to pay for the software we need to maintain our website, report forms, and tree-planting map. Every donation helps, and your donation helps us to keep serving Mother Earth, our global community, and the inspirational people behind our project.

Thank you!
