Happy 90th birthday to the Dalai Lama!

Last week, on the 6th of July, we celebrated the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday! The Dalai Lama is one of the Global Tree Initiative’s inspiring heroes.

The Dalai Lama is known for his powerful global voice for environmental stewardship, as he connects ecological responsibility with spiritual and ethical values. He often reminds us about the interconnectedness of all life, and advocates for urgent action to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and reduce consumption.

The Dalai Lama tells us that “Taking care of our planet is like taking care of our houses. Since we human beings come from nature, there is no point in our going against nature, which is why I say the environment is not a matter of religion or ethics, or morality. These are luxuries, since we can survive without them. But we will not survive if we continue to go against nature.*”

Thank you very much for the ongoing inspiration, dear Dalai Lama! We appreciate your wisdom and compassion, and we are fortunate to have your guidance and wisdom. May you have a long and happy life!
