To commemorate the Dalai Lama’s 91st birthday, 130 diverse fruit-bearing trees were planted across the Institute’s grounds, symbolizing growth, harmony, and sustainability.

One of the day’s most memorable moments came when the children performed the song “एक झाड करते काय” (“What Can One Tree Do?”), written by Chhaya Taralekar the previous year.

“I hope some day, by doing this, we can at least create a better condition for future beings and inspire other human beings to amplify the connection with our planet.”

Our hope is that these trees will improve the local environment and beautify the campus as an offering to our teachers, the monastic students, and visitors

To mitigate the extreme climate of the area, he started planting trees that would provide him with some shade and shelter.

Francois heard that Mother Earth Day will be celebrated on the 22nd of April. In celebration of this day, he decided to plant with his family.

The planting in this story is an addition to the ongoing Trees For Schools project at Daylesford Dharma School.

This week’s Success Story comes from Haiti.

It was a great, wholesome, additional activity to the retreat, with a well needed focus on our environment and the future for the planet and those that live on it.

On the 12th of December, Mark, Jill, and their supervisor, Barry the Aussie Terrier, made an additional 29 plantings!

While this may seem like a lot of work, David is being helped – and supervised – by his two grandsons, Robbie and David #2 – klein David.

Twenty trees were planted within the school premises, with the learners taking ownership of nurturing them.

This success story is a throwback to November 2019, exactly six years ago, when it all started for the Global Tree Initiative!

Together with our founder and his son, Manuela planted a total of 19 trees.

This planting aims to re-establish the natural ecology of the plants and, then hopefully, the animals, birds, and insects that have been lost over many decades.

The reforestation project is one of the aspects of our commitment, in restoring our connection with nature, fixing the environmental degeneration, and the relationship we have with elemental force.
