This week’s news article is inspired by our longtime friend and dedicated tree planter, Dharmendra Kar from Mumbai, India.

Dharmendra’s organization, Individual Social Responsibility Way, has been a partner of the Global Tree Initiative since 2021.

This year, for India’s 80th Independence Day, Dharmendra Kar inspired us once again:

“No banners. No posters. No campaign.
Just action. Just responsibility. Just love for our nation.”:

Dharmendra had the following to share:

This Independence Day, our GreenMarshals silently joined me in creating a 360° transformation at Palaspe Police Chowk on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, planting around 80 trees and plants to celebrate India’s 80 years of Independence.

From Coconut, Mango, guava, and Jamun to butterfly-hosting plants, nectar-rich flowering plants, and beautiful ornamental varieties, we transformed a busy traffic post into a greener, more vibrant space for people, birds, butterflies, and biodiversity.

This was our way of saying:
“My Office, My Responsibility.
My City, My Responsibility.
My Maharashtra, My Responsibility.”

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Maharashtra Traffic Police team, led by Unit Head Inspector Devidas Rameswar Naik, for giving us the opportunity to serve and transform this important police chowk.

Special thanks to our GreenMarshals NV Rao Garu, Munabhai Patel Jee, A.K. Ghosh Jee, and Mrutyunjay Pati for standing beside the cause and spending the day turning responsibility into reality.

We truly spent one of our best Independence Days; not celebrating freedom with words, but nurturing it with trees. Thank you, Maharashtra Police, for giving us the opportunity to practise Individual Social Responsibility (ISR) on this historic day.

Once again, we are inspired by the incredible and selfless work that you do, Dharmendra. We sincerely appreciate you and all that you do! And, the Global Tree Initiative wishes all our Indian friends a happy Independence Day!
