Today, on March 22, we celebrate World Water Day!

World Water Day, which falls on the 22nd of March, has been celebrated since 1993. This special day is an annual United Nations Observance, which focuses on the importance of freshwater.

Further, World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of more than 2 billion people living without access to clean and safe water. So, this day offers opportunities to learn about the global water crisis, and how to take action.

In celebration of this important day, we are happy to share the insights of Mr. Dipen Mehta, who is one of our dedicated regional coordinators in India, and the Managing Director at Aqua Utility Designs and Management Pvt. Ltd.

Home Water Budget Project

Mr. Dipen Mehta tells us that the concept of the Home Water Budget Project is to create awareness among students, teachers, and parents, about the conservation of water through water saving, waste prevention, and ultimately make them Water Ambassadors!

For this project, teachers are responsible for encouraging their students to take part. And students have to collect all the data related to water in their homes, compile the data, and calculate the availability and consumption of water in their homes.

The  presentation includes important lessons, such as:
– The water cycles: Evaporation, Condensation, Rain, Storage
– The differences between clear and contaminated water
– The availability of water: “If 100 liters of potable water is there on the Earth, only 1 liter is available for Human consumption!!”
